Let’s say you’re in the middle of finding your next phone and the barrage of iOS, Android, and BlackBerry options doesn’t really look appealing to you. You’re probably a fan of Microsoft and you probably told yourself that a Windows Phone might be better suited for you. And perhaps you’ve already arrived at the decision of getting one and you’re just waiting to come up with the perfect choice. Take a look at these suggestions.

Nokia Lumia 920

Nokia’s flagship Windows phone, the Lumia 920, runs on Windows 8 out of the box. A number of users and reviewers favor it over the rest of the choices primarily because of two things: its display and its camera. The gorgeous display features Nokia’s PureView HD+ display technology with a screen size of 4.5 inches and a display resolution of 768 by 1280 pixels at 332 pixels per inch. With it, you’ll be able to watch HD movies or series and enjoy immersive viewing of other types of media. Its camera, meanwhile, shoots still images at eight megapixels using the Carl Zeiss technology and features HD video shooting capabilities reaching up to 1080p. It also has optical image stabilization to avoid blurry shots and hazy or noisy low-light shots under the hood.

Touted as one of the best Windows Phone 8 handsets out there, the Lumia 920 also boasts of nine hours of talk time and 320 hours of standby time. What’s more interesting is that the unit also allows wireless charging with the aid of the Qi (pronounced as “chee”) inductive power standard employed in separately sold wireless charging plates and third-party wireless chargers.

HTC 8X

Another strong contender coming this time from Taiwanese manufacturer HTC is the 8X. HTC has been known for its solid design, so you can expect that the 8X won’t be an exception to the tradition in terms of its build quality. Its screen is covered in Corning’s Gorilla Glass 2, it delivers sound through a built-in Beats Audio amp, it offers 15 hours of talk time and 300 hours of standby time, and it has a 1.5GHz dual-core processor that runs through 1024 megabytes of RAM under the hood. All of these features are packed in 130 grams of bezeled perfection; so if that doesn’t sound solid to you, then I don’t know what does.

Samsung ATIV S

The ATIV S (or officially, the GT-I8370) is Samsung’s flagship Windows phone and is the latest among the bunch of competitive options from Microsoft and its partner manufacturers. Despite the South Korean company’s obvious focus on the Android market, it whips up phones running on the Windows ecosystem every once in a while to tap more markets. The ATIV S, however, is definitely not just any random lame attempt. It packs a punch with its 4.8-inch HD AMOLED display, 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon CPU, 1GB RAM, and NFC capabilities among other great features.

Although these three options are great, choosing a Windows Phone still boils down to personal preferences. These units are merely offered to help you narrow down your choices a little more. There’s no ultimate or absolute Windows Phone 8 handset because, as with anything in the world, it’s all relative. Picking one is only a matter of finding what’s available and examining which one fits your needs and wants.
