JEE Main
Formerly known as All India Engineering Entrance Examination, JEE Main is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education for admission into NITs, IIITs and other state and central government sponsored institutes.
- Maximum permitted attempt is three times consecutively.
- General candidates should have 75% marks in XII while for SC, St and OBC candidates, it is 65%.
- The examination is conducted both online and offline.
JEE Advanced
Students who are in the top 1.5 lakhs in JEE Main are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced. This examination is conducted by the IITs in India for admission to the undergraduate engineering courses.
- Admission test for the 23 IITs established in India.
- Examination is usually conducted in the third week of May.
BITSAT
It is the entrance test for admission to the Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad campus of the Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences.
- The test is conducted only online.
- For all undergraduate and integrated degree courses in the BITS campus, this test is mandatory.
- 75% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in class XII is compulsory.
- Board toppers can get direct admission.
VITEEE
This examination is conducted for admission to the Vellore Institute of Technology campuses in Vellore and Chennai.
- Recognized as one of the best private engineering colleges in the country.
- The examination is for admission to 5,000 seats in the institution.
- For general candidates, an aggregate of 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics is required. SC, ST, J&K and northeast residents have to provide an aggregate mentioned subject score of 50%.
- The examination is usually conducted in the first two weeks of April.
WBJEE
West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination or WBJEE is taken by over 2 laks candidates every year for admission to engineering courses in the institutes in West Bengal.
- The exam test a candidate’s speed is solving the problem. Conceptual depth is not very important in the examination.
- The candidate must have qualified class XII from an institute recognized by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or from some other recognized board in the country.
- For admission to state government funded college, a candidate must provide the proof of West Bengal domicile.
MHTCET
Maharashtra Health and Technical Common Entrance Test or MHTCET is the combined name given to the examination for admission to various engineering and medical courses in institutions in Maharashtra.
- Same like WBJEE, MHTCET tests a candidate’s problem solving speed rather than the conceptual depth he/she has.
- The examination is conducted in two phases at two different times every year.
- General candidates require an aggregate PCM score of 50% while for the reserved categories, it is 45%.
- A candidate gets his/her preferred college based on the rank he/she secures in the examination.
UPSEE
Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination is organized by the Dr. A.P.J. Kalam University.
- The examination is meant for admission to undergraduate courses of engineering, pharmacy, fashion and design and management courses in institutions in Uttar Pradesh.
- Candidates compete for admission to around 1.50 lakh seats within colleges in Uttar Pradesh.
- 4,000 seats in state government funded institutions are a part of the overall 1.50 lakh seats.
- 10% of the seats in private colleges are reserved for candidates from other states.
KIITEE
Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology Entrance Examination is conducted by the Kalinga institute of Industrial Technology for admission to its group of institutions.
- The engineering test is conducted for admission to Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology.
- 60% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics is mandatory in class XII.
- It is a national level examination. Hence, there is no need for domicile proof.
