This is a guest post by Maya, an editor of The American Institute of Architects website, a columnist for Lucky Magazine and Architectural Digest Magazine. Today she’s sharing some expert tips on how to clean and remove cabin junk.

Owning a cabin can be a very pleasant and comforting thing for a lot of persons. It’s very easy to build one, and not very expensive. Also, it comes with a great level of flexibility and you can customize it, as you like. Also, you can build a cabin on almost any type of terrain, in a very short time. The struggle begins afterwards. There are just so many things that need your attention when owning a cabin (even a small one) and it can be overwhelming for a single individual to do them all. One of those things is removing the junk. It can be pretty frustrating to collect and remove all the cabin junk by yourself. Postponing this operation is not a solution either, because you will just collect more junk, making your cabin uninhabitable. However, if you’re organized and have a system in everything you do, this operation will become easier and you might even enjoy it. Below, we will present you 4 simple ideas to clean and remove your cabin junk.

1) Select what needs to be thrown away

The first step of the junk removal process is to select all the junk and all the things that you don’t need anymore. Remember that space is a very important thing and you don’t need to keep it occupied with useless objects. That’s why, you must be extremely “ruthless” when you select the things you no longer need. However, you don’t have to do this step in one day. Just take your time and think about the objects that didn’t find their use in a long time, and now are just dust collectors. If you own a small cabin, like most of us do, it’s pretty annoying to have limited space because of some bulky items or boxes with useless stuff. Just think it through and take a proper decision.

2) Sort out the selected items

This is the part where you actually start the cleaning process. Remember when we told you to be harsh in the selection process? That’s because, you will never want to throw away all the stuff. What you want to do now, is put all the previous selected items in 2 piles: the stuff you no longer need and the stuff you might need at some point but is not vital. For the items you no longer need, things are simple. Put them in a bag/box and prepare them for disposal. Now you can take a look at the pile with items you might need. Do you really need them all? Of course not! Repeat the previous step with this pile and remove what you will probably never use again.

3) Make sure that you properly dispose them

So you just put all your junk together and you’re ready to throw everything out. That’s great! However, if we’re talking about a big amount of items or some bulky ones, it will be almost impossible to get rid of them in an effective way. That’s where you need to call a specialist. A specialized company (such as Same-Day Rubbish Removal) will ensure a fast removal of your junk, using the right materials. Also, you shouldn’t worry about the non-recyclable or hazardous items, because they will do it for you.

4) Start acting like a businessman

You know what they say: “One man’s junk is another man’s treasure”. This old idiom might apply even for your junk. If you don’t need it anymore, that doesn’t mean that the others will feel the same about it. More than that , they might be willing to pay some money for it. If you have unnecessarily items in good condition, you should try selling them. Advertise them on a website or organize a yard sale. You never know who would want them and this way, your junk removal operation might even turn profitable. If you’re feeling kind, you can just give them away for free. You know what they say about karma.

Removing the cabin junk can be a pretty long and annoying operation. However, if you’re organized and you have a well-created system, you will be able to do it fast, with no additional hassle. For a more detailed presentation and some great tips in this matter, you should read more here.
