The History of the Nintendo Wii

Nintendo Wii
Nintendo Wii

The first Nintendo Wii was sold on 19 Nov 2006. At the time there was nothing quite like it. A games console that responded to movement rather than the touch of a button was an inspired idea. It appealed to millions of people and, to date, an amazing 96 million Wii consoles have been sold across the world. This makes it one of the most popular game consoles ever. The Xbox 360 has only sold 67 million and the PS3 has only sold 64 million.

It is a console that appealed to people who had never picked up a games console in their life before. Nintendo have produced over 82 million copies of the Sports pack that most original Wii’s were originally sold with. They have also sold 34.26 million copies of Mario Kart Wii.

The super easy interface and the simple, low energy games, like bowling, made the Wii accessible to everyone. Even people with mobility problems can enjoy playing and it was a surprising hit with the over 70s.

Many people still enjoy their Wii, even today. However, some people have lost interest and now want to sell their Wii. This is fortuitous because some people would love to own one, but simply cannot afford to buy a new one. This means that if you have a Wii to sell it is not that difficult to find a buyer.

You could sell your used Wii in several ways. Below we will briefly consider them, which should allow you to work out which approach is best for you.

Your Options for Selling Your Used Wii

If you want to you can simply advertise your Wii in your local newspaper, or use the notice board in your local supermarket. It can take time to find a buyer this way. You also need to bear in mind that you are leaving your phone number in a public place, and that buyers will have to come to your home. Some may meet you in town and give over the cash for your console, but most will want to try the console before buying it.

You can avoid meeting sellers, but advertising it on eBay. Of course, it will cost you money to list it. Bear in mind that a Wii is quite heavy and fragile, this means it has to be packaged well and will cost quite a bit to post. Before listing it on an auction site,be sure to factor in enough to cover the true cost of postage. It is a relatively risk free way to sell your used games console, however, occasionally things go wrong. Be careful to only sell it to someone with a good rating and check for any negative feedback to avoid problems.

However, you choose to sell your Wii take the time to establish how much it is worth. Doing so will allow you to pitch your price at a level that will appeal to as many potential buyers as possible.
