Samsung’s journey into 2018 will be marked with the launch of the Galaxy S9, the Galaxy flagship of the year. With the launch set for 25 February, all eyes are on stage to see what the device really turns out to be. A lot of rumors and leaks, even renders of the final product has been leaked online and we have a fair bit understanding of the subject matter.

What we also have got our hands is the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. Taking things to a bigger level will be this device, having more of the same features of the S series counterpart, adding a few of its own and this time around, we also get a new silicone to power the device. All this round up to a huge comparison and which device to pick-up if you are on the hunt? Let’s find out.

Let’s take the similarities out of the way first. For the most part, the Galaxy S9 will come with a 6.0 inch AMOLED display with an aspect 18.5:9 aspect ratio and 2K resolution. The Samsung Galaxy Note 9, on the other hand, will inherit the same 18.5:9 aspect ratio and 2K display but the panel will also incorporate an in-display fingerprint sensor, making it’s way all the way from the back to front.

The front camera on both the devices will be a 12 Megapixel module with OIS and f/1.7 aperture, so you get better quality selfies anytime of the day.

Under the hood, the phablet-sized devices will be different in some ways. The S9 will be the less powerful of the two, with the device powered by Snapdragon 845 and 4GB of RAM and S9 Plus might get 6GB RAM, but it doesn’t come close what the other device is offering. The Galaxy Note 9 will get the new Snapdragon 855, 6GB and 8GB versions with storage options from 64GB up to 256GB.

And for photography, you get an improved 12 Megapixel camera with f/1.7 sensor, dual camera on the S9 Plus and the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 gets a dual 16 Megapixel module with the same f/1.7 sensor, both cameras being optically stabilized for better night time shots.

The S9 will be available this February and Note 9 is pushed to August 2018 which will probably be a long wait for some.
