Even a child is aware of the importance of trees. This is not what we will discuss here but why an investment must be made in pruning them. Pruned trees make your community and home look more beautiful and the air around healthier. Property’s value also increases if they have landscape trees planted and growing in them. Trees are an asset. Their growth needs to be protected and enhanced, and a way of doing it is by pruning them. Not every tree need to be pruned.

Why should you Prune Trees?

Landscape trees that are colossal which can damage properties or injure people should be amended. Trees with either weak branch unions or crossing branches needed to be pruned. If the branches of a tree are decayed, dead, hazardous or dying should be cut off immediately. Also trees with lower branches that cause visibility issues, or those who interfere with neighbour buildings and ongoing vehicles also need to be pruned.

Pruning Trees A Worthy Investment

Who can Prune Trees?

Anyone with proper tools and skills can do simple types of pruning. Simple pruning includes removing lower branches of trees or cutting off dead and decaying branches.  To Prune, a young tree a qualified arborist is needed.  Pruning does not only mean cutting tree any way you wish to, but it is a complex mixture of understanding the tools, tree’s species while following the proper safety measures. Only an arborist possess the kind of experience, scientific knowledge of the pruning techniques also they are able to understand a tree physiology. They follow the national tree safety standards and it is best that they should handle work that involves climbing on trees, with power tools and working around live wires.

Pruning Types:

For Pruning, various kinds of cut are made on the trees. There are different types of pruning activities done to ensure and enhance tree’s health and growth.

Thinning Cut

It is done to remove a branch from the trunk itself. It leaves no stubs and also shortens the limb of the branch. A thinning cut is done to remove dead or weaken branch. It is also used to reduce the height or weight of the tree. It is also known as drop crotch pruning as it is done on live and young trees. After a thinning cut tree’s shape is enhanced and growth of the tree is ensured.

Heading Cut

It is used to trim the branch into a bud; that is not big enough to resume growth after pruning.  Heading cuts are used to shape flowering plants or pollarding trees. It is never used to top trees as it is very destructive to the structure, health and appearance of the tree.

Stub Cut

A stub cut is very much similar to heading cut with just one difference. A stub cut is made on the point where no other branch or bud is present on a main branch. It is used to top trees. During the removal of a tree when parts of limbs are cut only then topping a tree is deemed appropriate.
