What is Acne?

The main cause of acne is inflamed sebaceous glands and oily skin, which can sometimes worsen the condition. Greasy skin is one of the most common symptoms present in acne sufferers, right after the obvious tell-tale sign of red and yellow spots which have become filled with puss. In the more serious cases, these red pimples become more inflamed, resulting in the accumulation of pustules, nodules and cysts. When these form together in groups, the condition is called “acne conglobate”.
Acne Treatments
Various creams, gels and antibiotics can be prescribed by your GP to help battle the effects of acne on the skin. Keeping your face clean and free from makeup will also help not to add to the problem at hand. Common medical treatments include azelaic acid, benzoyl peroxide and stronger oral antibiotics.
