Windows cleaning can be a somewhat challenging task, especially if we are dealing with hard water spots each day. There are windows cleaning products that we could choose in stores and they should be able to clean windows effectively. However, before planning to clean windows regularly, we should address the problems. Other than dust, hard water stains are other common things that make our windows look dirty. These stains could be caused by poorly-adjusted sprinklers and if the problem persists, we should consider installing a proper filter to minimize stain.

When using a cleaning product, it is important that we won’t cause fine scratches on the glass surface. So, it is essential to choose high quality squeegee and sponger. In order to speed up the cleaning process, we should use a bucketful of water with a few quick squirts of dishwash detergent. When cleaning the stains, we should make sure that we concentrate where stains often emerge. Unfortunately, some stains could already accumulate for months and it could be a bit difficult to remove the deposits.

In this case, it would be important to use a special stain remover solution. We could use a scrubber or rag to apply the solution. Rub the glass in a circular fashion until the surface is perfectly smooth. The next step is applying the dishwash solution again to remove all the traces of deposits completely. The next step is to use the squeegee to remove the excess water. If the accumulated hard water stains haven’t been removed for a couple months, we may need a couple of attempts to remove them.

We should be able to remove them completely after a few tries. However, it is important that we don’t use the hard water itself to clean the windows. It is important to have a proper water source that’s free from salt and mineral. Before cleaning the windows, it is also essential that we have the proper tools. As an example, good squeegee for cleaning windows should be between 6-inch to 12-inch in size, while those larger than 18-inch are more appropriate for storefront and commercial washing.

Wand is also useful for cleaning stained windows and we could get them at local hardware stores. Wands should be similar in size with our squeegee and they should make the windows cleaning task much easier to complete. We also need to huck towels to dry windows edges. They are lint-free, absorbent and made from 100 percent cotton. They should be able in any janitorial supply store. However, if these towels are not available, we could use tightly-woven cotton rag.

Bucket is also essential for windows cleaning at home and it should hold up to 5 gallons of water, but can be smaller if we have smaller and fewer windows. In general, a bucket should be compact and portable enough to carry. In many cases, a step ladder is needed to properly clean our windows and a 3-foot step ladder should be enough for cleaning purpose in most houses.
