Security is a major issue when it comes to business premises. Even the smallest of companies will have on-site equipment that is attractive to thieves, and it needs to be protected when the premises are empty.

The problem lies in choosing the right security system. With technologically advanced security systems now being surprisingly affordable, the traditional security guard has become a thing of the past. This option was always an expensive one, and also not the most efficient of answers.

What do you need in a security system for your business? Let’s have a look at the options.

Alarm Systems

You most likely have an alarm system of some sort as part of your security system, and so you should, as they do act as a deterrent. The problem is when the alarm is the only security deterrent you have.

Alarms are very good these days, and there are some excellent systems available, but they all have one inherent problem: by the time your alarm sounds, your security has already been breached. An intruder knows they then have so much time to grab what they need and get out, and by the time you or the security services arrive, they and your goods are long gone.

So, even the most effective alarms are a deterrent only, and unless you are very lucky, will not protect your property fully. You should, of course, invest in strong and secure locks – there is plenty of advice available from the right people – to go with your alarm.

CCTV

Closed Circuit Television – CCTV – is all around us these days, and in private companies it represents a very efficient method of enhancing security. It is a simple idea: a series of cameras sends images to a recorder or to a desk where monitors are watched constantly. This allows for any problems to be spotted immediately, or for the recording to be scrutinised for clues at a later date.

There are, however, drawbacks: if you have a continually monitored system, you need to employ someone to watch the screens. This is added expense that smaller businesses perhaps can not afford. If you use a recording device, the damage is done by the time you come to view the images, which is not the most effective form of security. Also, with cheaper equipment, the images can be of very poor quality. There is a further option however, and it may be the best of all.

Remote Monitored CCTV

The benefit of CCTV is that it is visual, but as we said above, the drawbacks are still there. With remote monitored CCTV, you get the best of both worlds. A service provider will install and run a quality CCTV system for you, using the latest hi-tech cameras that relay an image back to a control room. Here, a trained operative will be on hand to respond to any notifications of unauthorised activity at your premises.

The cameras are fitted with sensors, and there are further detectors around the premises, that will trigger an alarm at the control room. An on-site operative will then begin monitoring your situation, in real time. They can also send across an audible message, warning the intruder that they are currently being watched. This has been proven to be very effective, and it is by far the best way of ensuring your premises are protected as best possible.

Check out remote monitored CCTV systems and talk to a service provider – we recommend Resure – and you will find that this is the most cost-effective and efficient method of security available for your business.
