Home Rental Trends In Kolkata: Things You Need To Know!

Housing Options on the Rise in Kolkata

There is now an increased demand for residential properties in Kolkata and hence, the developers in the city are coming up with various housing options for the buyers. Let us now take a look at some of the interesting facts regarding the ever-developing rental market of the city.

  • 1 & 2 BHK Apartments

If you have been planning to rent a 1 BHK apartment in Kolkata, the best places to search for you would be the localities like Behala, Tollygunge, and Rajarhat. Here, you will get ample opportunities to get a flat of your choice on rent. Also, the housing options here are distributed under several price ranges. For a 2 BHK apartment, that too within your budget, places like Keshtopur, Uttarpara, Baguiati are the best. There are some of the best 2 BHK Flats in Uttarpara available with the rise of some lucrative housing options.

  • 3 & 4 BHK Apartments

For a 3 BHK or a 4 BHK apartment, places like Ballygunge, Garia, Prince Anwar Shah and Kasba are the best. According to a report by 99 Acres, prime locations such as Ballygunge and Prince Anwar Shah Road have seen a 4% hike. Also, Kasba has seen a 7% hike. Generally, families with more than two people prefer renting a 3 or 4 BHK apartment. However, this doesn’t mean that all the options available in this category are highly priced. There are options available in different price variants as well.

All said and done, the fact remains that the house rents have gone up. According to Sumit Dabriwal, Director CMG, “There is an uptake in demand so both prices and rental have gone up. As far as Jadavpur and Salt Lake are concerned, not much new supply has been created in recent years. But there is demand so rental has gone up. I feel that the positive impact of relaxation in floor area ratio will be visible after few months.” So, the only thing we can do now is to wait and watch for the rent control measures which the government might take up in the coming months.
