Like most people, you probably use your smartphone for just about everything. From checking email to browsing the internet to streaming music and videos, our phones have become an essential part of our lives. So what do you do when your phone breaks?

We all have a phobia of dropping our phones. It’s happened to the best of us, and it’s a frustrating experience every time. You might be lucky and have a warranty that covers the repairs. What happens if you don’t? What if your warranty is no longer valid? Thankfully, there are options for getting your phone fixed promptly once it has been dropped.

It’s critical to analyze the damage before proceeding. If your phone is still functional, but the screen is shattered, you may be able to simply replace it. If your phone has been severely damaged, you may need to back up your information in case it dies totally. This might be a time-consuming and costly process, but it is necessary to secure the security of your data.

It’s critical to act swiftly in either instance. The longer you wait, the more damage will be done to your phone. So, if you’re unsure what to do, don’t be afraid to ask for assistance.

Check Your Warranty

If your phone is still under warranty, you may be able to get it repaired or replaced for free. Most manufacturers offer a one-year warranty, but to some extend that to two years. And if you bought your phone through your carrier, it may have an additional warranty on top of the manufacturer’s warranty. So it’s worth inspecting to see if your phone is covered.

You’ll need to take it to an authorized repair center to get it fixed if it is. Or, if you have a newer phone, your carrier may offer replacements through its insurance program.

You should double-check your warranty. If you have a warranty, the cost of repairs will most likely be covered. There are, however, some exceptions. Most warranties, for example, will not cover damage caused by dropping your phone in water. Your warranty should, however, cover a broken screen or other physical damage. It’s always worth checking to see if your phone is covered by a warranty. Some phones come with these, and some people aren’t aware of them.

Find a Reputable Repair Shop

If a warranty does not cover you, your next step is to find a reputable repair shop. This is especially important if you have an iPhone, as many fake Apple Stores are out there. To find a reputable iPhone repair shop, you can ask friends and family for recommendations. Or, you can check online reviews. Once you’ve found a few potential shops, call them and ask about their prices and turnaround time.

You can take your phone to a repair shop if you don’t have a warranty or if your warranty has expired. The majority of phone repair shops will be able to fix your phone. You’ll have your own new phone, which is fantastic. You can also look for phone repair shops in your region by searching online. There is most likely a plethora of them available to you. Make certain to look into what might be accessible in your area.

Most reputable shops will offer a warranty on their repairs, so be sure to ask about that. And if you’re not sure what’s wrong with your phone, most shops will offer a free diagnosis.

Repair Yourself

If you’re feeling brave, you can always try to fix your phone yourself. Several online tutorials can help you in repairing.

Just be aware that this is not for everyone. And if you’re not careful, you could do more damage to your phone. So if you decide to go this route, be sure to do your research and follow the instructions carefully.

Buy a New Phone, Trade-in or Sell the Phone and Buy a Replacement

This is probably the most common option. And if you have insurance, it may even be covered.

If your phone is beyond repair, your only option is to buy a new one. You may be able to get a great deal on a new phone if you’re willing to switch carriers or sign up for a long-term contract.

If not, you can always try to sell your phone and use the money to buy a new one. Or, you could trade it in for a discount on a new phone.

Put a Screen Protector on a Cracked Screen

If your phone’s screen is cracked, you may be tempted to leave it as is. But that’s not a good idea. A cracked screen makes your phone more susceptible to further damage.

You can order a replacement screen online if you’re feeling handy. This is normally the most expensive choice, but it is also the most time-consuming. Most phones have replaceable screens that can be found online. Simply ensure that you order the correct model for your phone. However, unless you have a lot of skill with electronics, this is not a good idea. Many instructions are accessible online to guide you through the procedure.

So if you can’t get it repaired right away, at least put a screen protector on it to minimize the risk of further damage.

There are several things you can do if your phone breaks. But the most important thing is to take action quickly. The longer you wait, the more damage your phone will sustain. And in some cases, that damage may be irreparable.
