A recent report that was released by IDC announced the results of the lackluster market that was taken for the top PC sales list around the world. HP has been found to be the leading manufacturer of computer for about fourth quarter of global computer sales in the year 2012. Yet the PC sales have dropped down by 6.4 percentages, prior to the other year’s quarter sale precisely. The IDC is the Worldwide Quarterly PC Tracker and in its results it has announced the fourth-quarter global PC shipments to be dipped down by 6.4 percentage of the same quarter in the year 2011 and the results saw 89.9 million units of shipment though. As we all know that IDC has already pre warned and forecasted a drop in the industry by about 4.4 percentages but unfortunately the drop was worse than the forecast. It was the first time in history that there has been a huge plunge in the PC sales especially during the holiday season. For the year 2012 the PC shipment worsened and was down by 3.2 percentages.
 Though the Windows 8 was launched by the end of the October of 2012, this rejuvenating and innovative Operating System was never able to increase the demand for PC’s in the market that was flooded with technological marvels such as multi task tablets and smartphones. This news was not a shock for the IDC as they have already being expecting a dull, rough and dry second half season for the PC vendors in the year 2012 sales. According to the IDC reports, it feels that more than the other luxury devices that include touch options in the new Windows OS and it compete with the tablets that are found to be more innovative and advanced in technology than its counterparts, the PC’s exclusively.
Jay Chou who is the business analyst in the IDC announced in his statement, “Although Q3 was focused on the clearing of Windows 7 inventory; preliminary research indicates the clearance did not help significantly the uptake of Windows 8 systems. The PC ecosystem has thus far not adequately conveyed a fuller spectrum of the benefits of the latest Wintel platform. Lost in the shuffle to promote a touch-centric PC, vendors have not forcefully stressed other features that promote a more secure, reliable, and efficient user experience.” Credits go to the IDC reports that were released lately.
According to the results it was said that though the HP shipment touched nearly 15 million of the last quarter PC sales and its share increased while the other PC sales dropped from the previous years. HP was pegged the winning team and is in the top five global vendors by increased shipment sales, thus winning a marvelous market share of around 16.7 percentages. On the second place was Lenovo with amazing rate of shipment that reached around 15.7 percentage of the market share. Dell was in the third position with 9.4 million shipments and about 10.6 percentage of the market share. Chou is in big hope that the market will shoot up this year and said, “As Windows 8 matures, and other corresponding variables such as Ultrabook pricing continue to drop, hopefully the PC market can see a reset in both messaging and demand in 2013,”
